This scholarship was established to honor Evan Dalgaard who left this earth April 19, 2008. Evan left a “large footprint” on the hearts of the members of the Missouri Service-Learning Network and the Service-Learning community as a whole.
Evan was a member of the Missouri Service-Learning Advisory Council during his high school career. After attending the National Youth Leadership Council’s (NYLC) National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) for the first time in 2005, he held various staff roles with NYLT over the next three years. Since his first NYLT experience, he had served on NYLC’s Youth Advisory Council, offering youth and adult trainings with fellow YAC members and NYLC staff, and supporting NYLC’s communications and development efforts as a writer and editor. He really blossomed partly due to his participation at the National Youth Leadership Training.
This scholarship was designed to offer other Missouri Youth the same opportunity. The Missouri Service-Learning Network will be offering up to two $500 scholarships to attend the 2012 National Youth Leadership Training in July 2012.
